If you want the latest bleeding edge development version of MPD, grab it from the subversion repository. Subversion is a version control system for software development (very similar to CVS). MPD's subversion repository is located at https://svn.musicpd.org.

To checkout a module, do:

svn co https://svn.musicpd.org/MODULE/trunk MODULE

To checkout mpd:

svn co https://svn.musicpd.org/mpd/trunk mpd

Browse the repository with your web browser to get a list of complete modules.
