January 4th, 2009 - mpdscribble 0.15 released

mpdscribble version 0.15 has been released. This release fixes the high CPU usage when MPD is paused, allows a cleartext password in the config file and logs with the local time rather than UTC. Otherwise, bugs were fixed and documentation was updated. For more information see the full log.

December 25th, 2008 - mpd 0.14 released

MPD version 0.14 has been released. Rewritten stream support, 24-bit audio, mp3 output streaming, ffmpeg support and more features and bugfixes then can be mentioned here. See full changelog for more details.

December 25th, 2008 - gmpc, gmpc-plugins and libmpd 0.17.0 released

gmpc version 0.17.0 has been released. The focus of this release was bugfixes, stability, memory reductions, features, and general UI cleanups. This release also made vast improvements on their MacOSX and win32 ports. See the full changelog for more information or just go get it all.

December 25th, 2008 - mpdscribble 0.14 released

mpdscribble version 0.14 has been released and has the normal bugfixes, cleans up the source code to be much more readable, supports MPD's idle command, uses more glib code, logs to syslog, resubmits "now playing" after re-handshake and much more.

December 20th, 2008 - mpc 0.14 released

mpc version 0.14 has been released. First release in a year and a half. Tons of bugfixes and feature additions, see the shortlog for more details.

December 20th, 2008 - mpd 0.14~beta3 released

MPD version 0.14~beta3 has been released. Updates include the usual bugfixes, default to following all symlinks, fix OSX and libao playback and add Monkey's Audio support to the ffmpeg plugin.

December 19th, 2008 - mpdscribble v0.13 released

mpdscribble v0.13 released. Support for last.fm protocol 1.2 added, HTTP proxy support, allow cross-fading and seeking. Download.

December 14th, 2008 - gmpc, gmpc-plugins and libmpd 0.17.0-beta2 release

The second beta of gmpc and libmpd 0.17.0 has been released, bringing the usual bug fixes. This release also significantly improves on win32 and osX integration. Get it at gmpc's website or from sourceforge.

December 5th, 2008 - ncmpc 0.12 released

ncmpc version 0.12 has been released. Development of the following version 0.13 has been started in git.

December 2, 2008 - mpd 0.14~beta2 released

MPD version 0.14~beta2 This includes more use of Glib to remove duplicated functionality, reverting to old ALSA buffer_time to prevent distortion, added functionality to control how symlinks are treated (this fixes a regression), fixes for more internet streams and other bugfixes.

November 29, 2008 - gmpc, gmpc-plugins and libmpd 0.17.0-beta1 released

The first beta of gmpc and libmpd 0.17.0 has been released. This release includes the usual bug fixes, cleanups, features, speedups, memory footprint shrinkage and translation updates. Get it at gmpc's website or from sourceforge.

November 28, 2008 - ncmpc 0.12~beta2 released

The second beta of ncmpc 0.12 has been released. If all goes well, this is the last pre-release version, and the final 0.12 will be released next week.

November 23, 2008 - MPD 0.14~beta1 released

MPD version 0.14~beta1 has been released. The changes for this release (from alpha 3) include the usual stability fixes; support for non-unicode and non-latin1 file names; idle command subscriptions; stream seeking optimizations; if changed, state saves every 5 minutes; ffmpeg tag support and more. November 17, 2008 - ncmpc 0.12~alpha1 released

After several years of stalled development, the first alpha version of ncmpc 0.12 has been released. It contains a large number of bug fixes, improved unicode and wide character support, unix domain sockets, LIRC and more.

November 14, 2008 - MPD 0.14~alpha3 released

MPD version 0.14~alpha3 has been released! The third, hopefully final, alpha release for the 0.14 series fixes FreeBSD compilation, mp3 seeking and includes other stability fixes.

November 12, 2008 - MPD 0.14~alpha2 released

MPD version 0.14~alpha2 released! Improvements are in the decoders and general stability. Again, please help find bugs and report them.

October 22, 2008 - FlashMPC released

FlashMPC, Amazingly FlashMPC is the only flash based client for MPD, great for MPD running on minimal machines that you want to web serve a client from but don't want a server-side solution. Only 50kb, and extremely lightweight, even comes with a built-in console for direct communication with MPD. Download it from google code.

October 19, 2008 - Njiiri 0.2.0 released

Njiiri, a new GTK+ client written in Ruby, has made its first release. Njiiri has a simple and clean interface that should be comfortable for GNOME users, but would fit just as well in lighter desktop environments. There is intentionally no configuration to mess with. If you have multiple MPDs, it makes switching between them easy.

October 17, 2008 - new MPD maintainer

Max Kellermann is the new maintainer of MPD. The git repository "master/mpd.git" now points to the branch that used to be "mpd-mk".
